Introduction
Hi! On September 11, 2021, in the heart of Łódź, I had the invaluable pleasure of participating as a mentor in the Girls.js workshops. This event, aimed at women starting their fascinating journey through the cybernetic labyrinths of JavaScript programming, radiated positive energy and an atmosphere of cooperation from the very beginning. From the first moments, I felt that it would be a day full of inspiration, exchange of experiences, and collective discovery of new possibilities.
Right at the start, I felt how important the role of community and support is in learning to program. Sharing knowledge and experience is for me not only an obligation but above all a privilege that allows us to build stronger foundations for our IT community.

My Role as a Mentor
As a mentor, I had the honor of leading my team through subsequent tasks, observing how the participants bravely took on new challenges. I particularly appreciate the revolutionary approach of the organizers, who opted for work in small, intimate groups – each consisting of a mentor and several participants.
Thanks to this, I could:
- individually adjust the pace of learning to each person’s needs
- provide support in moments when difficulties arose
- build relationships based on trust and openness
It was this closeness and the possibility of direct help that made the atmosphere of the workshops extremely warm and conducive to development.
Reflections on Learning
Looking from the perspective of my own experiences, I know how difficult struggling with programming problems alone can be. Over years of learning, I have been convinced many times that support from another person can dramatically speed up the development process.
Workshops like Girls.js are – in my opinion – key for those taking their first steps in the IT world. Key elements that make learning not only effective but also extremely satisfying:
- Individual approach – adaptation to each person’s needs
- Possibility to ask questions without fear – a safe space for experimentation
- Quickly solving encountered difficulties – immediate support
Benefits of Participation
I am deeply convinced that participating in such events brings invaluable benefits – both for participants and mentors.
For participants:
- Opportunity to learn in a safe, supportive environment
- Direct contact with experienced programmers
- Practical experience with JavaScript
For mentors:
- A chance to share knowledge and experience
- Learning through observing the fresh perspective of beginners
- Satisfaction from helping others grow
Collaboration, exchange of experiences, and openness to new perspectives are values that – in my opinion – should form the foundation of our industry. Each such meeting confirms my belief that education and mutual support are key to building a strong, inspiring IT community.
Personal Reflections
Observing the learning process of my mentees and seeing how they overcame subsequent challenges was a great satisfaction for me. It is moments like these that remind me why it is worth getting involved in educational initiatives and sharing your experience.
Conclusion and Gratitude
In conclusion, I would like to sincerely thank all the organizers, participants, and other mentors for creating an extraordinary atmosphere and the opportunity for common development. It was an honor for me to be part of this initiative, and I hope we will meet at similar events many more times. If you are considering participating in Girls.js workshops – I highly encourage it! It is an experience that can become the beginning of a fascinating adventure in the world of programming.
I have great gratitude for every moment spent in this group. Collective learning, knowledge exchange, and mutual support are – in my opinion – the foundation of development in the IT industry. Thank you to everyone who contributed to this extraordinary day.
