We got an honourable mention; the main value for me was the meetings with our mentor and other participants.\n\nFrom the start we had an assigned mentor. His support helped us review the idea, see strengths and risks and get a push for next steps. I appreciated that he was open to questions and adapted the pace to us.\n\nExchange with other teams, mentors from different fields and organisers was valuable. Every conversation added something to how we thought about the project. Collaboration and openness to other perspectives taught me a lot.\n\nThe final was on 16 October 2020. We didn’t win first place, but the mention meant a lot to us. I took most from the relationships and advice from mentors and participants – that still pays off.\n\nI recommend this kind of competition to anyone developing a project and wanting to learn. For every kilometer I donated **5 PLN** to charity. For me it was a test of endurance and the moment I really felt how much other people’s support matters.\n\n## Where the idea came from\n\nThe idea came from the “Szybkie Podróże” (Fast Travels) channel on YouTube. I saw it was doable and decided to combine the march with a fundraiser. I like being active and wanted that effort to have a clear purpose.\n\nStart: **December 2, 2019**. Day one: euphoria and doubt. Day two: pain and fatigue. Day three: finish and relief.\n\n### Day 1\n\nAt the start I kept thinking: will I make it, how will my body hold up. My body was feeling day one, every step hurt. What helped: talking, support, and knowing I was walking for something beyond myself. The last few kilometers were just about pushing through. At the start, 100 km in three days sounded abstract. It turned out doable with determination, consistency, and people around you.\n\nKnowing that every kilometer meant 5 PLN for a cause really helped in the worst moments. I wasn’t just walking “for myself.” Cooperation before and during the march made a big difference.\n\nWinter in the Świętokrzyskie Mountains – the views, silence, air – gave me more in the head than it took from my legs.\n\n## Summary: 653 PLN\n\nWe raised **653 PLN** (plan was 5 PLN × 102 km = 510 PLN). Thanks to everyone who chipped in, cheered, and messaged along the way.\n\nIf you’re thinking about a similar challenge: it’s doable. Pick a cause, a route, and people who won’t let you off the hook. For me it was an experiment – AI as a way to focus on concepts instead of hours of debugging. Students learned to communicate with AI, evaluate suggestions and decide when to accept them.\n\nStack: Vue 3, Vite, Vue Router, Vuetify\u002FTailwind, Pinia, Firebase, Vue I18n. I also showed alternatives: Supabase, AWS Amplify, Convex.\n\nProgramme: from HTML, CSS and JavaScript basics through Git\u002FGitHub, VS Code and Copilot. Styling – when to use Vuetify, when Tailwind. Pinia for state; AI helped design store architecture. Firebase – Auth, Firestore, hosting, real-time. Vue I18n with translation files generated with AI.\n\nAI tools in practice: Copilot – inline suggestions, learning patterns. Cursor – editing multiple files via change descriptions, refactoring. Windsurf – architectural decisions, spotting security issues. Roo Code – framework-specific patterns and optimisations. Takeaways: benefits are speed and room to experiment; challenges are over-relying on AI, checking security and code quality. Rule: always understand the code before accepting, treat AI like a junior under supervision.\n\nStudents built full apps using AI. The difference was clear: those who used AI to support their own thinking did better than those who relied only on suggestions. Prompt engineering turned out to be as important a skill as coding. Code review became critical – with fast generation, judging quality and security is essential.\n\nChallenges: architectural complexity, learning to communicate with AI effectively, convincing students that AI supports rather than replaces thinking. Lesson: success still needs understanding, practice and learning. AI is a tool; the human decides the goal and judges the result.\n\nThanks to the students and the Innovations Project organisers.
